Enoch Walked with God

And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him (Genesis 5:24, KJV)

Enoch walked with God and was not because God took him!

What an amazing scripture above! Enoch walked with God. And the next phase is most astonishing, “and he was not; for God took him.” Enoch did not die like the others who were listed before and after him. While his contemporaries were living for more than 900 years, he lived only 365 years. What happened?  God did not allow him to live his entire lifespan. God took him alive to heaven, just as He translated Elijah to heaven without him dying! 

We know very little about Enoch but  we do know that he had a spectacular walk with God and he was a prophet ( Jude 1:14) and man of faith( Heb 11:4-5). There are people who have gone before us whose walk or manner of life so much pleased the Lord that He could not wait until their death to take them to heaven!  The New Testament takes us deeper into Enoch’s walk with God

“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him….” (Hebrews 11:5–6, KJV)

Enoch was a man who lived in faith and lived a life that pleased God. Do not make a mistake of thinking Enoch simply “believed God so much in his heart” and that is what God was pleased with. No! The focus in Hebrews 11 is to show us what these heroes did and how they lived THROUGH faith. The works they produced through faith.

Enoch walked with God through faith, certainly in righteousness, holiness, intimacy with God, the prophetic, etc in the midst of an abominable community. May the Lord cause you to crave a walk with Him in this generation!

 Colossians 1:10 needs no further comment. It is  God’s instruction for us

“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;” (Colossians 1:10, KJV)
