A Generation that is Hungry for God’s Presence

And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle (Exod. 33:11 KJV).

Hungry for God’s presence and no longer satisfied by church routines?

The scripture above tell us that Moses went into the tabernacle with his servant Joshua. But when Moses came out again to speak with the people, Joshua refused to leave the tabernacle! There is the remarkable phrase which says, “but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.” Joshua was hungry for God’s presence.

We have a generation of Christians today who are just plain hungry for God’s presence. They are tired of church that is empty of God’s presence. You see, the temple was called the House of God not primarily because that was the place where worship services were held. It was because God’s presence was in it. His presence defines the House and makes it what it is. God’s presence can fill a house (Acts 2:2.)

The local church, including its building, is also called the House of God because God’s presence is in it. Have you ever entered a church building and sensed a holy presence in there? Or attended a church service and knew that was not just a gathering of Christians, but also a time of fellowship with God’s presence?

There is a generation of Christians that God is raising who are hungry for His Presence. They do not want empty churches or services, but want God’s presence in them. Let this hunger fill your hearts and you will certainly be filled (Matt. 5:6.)

Why do you think Joshua did not want to come out? Have you ever been to a church service yourself and never wanted to leave? What happened?

APPLY THE WORD

Take it upon yourself from today to pray for your local assembly and the church in general every day for more of God’s presence.

PRAY

Pray now for our local churches, that our gatherings together will not be merely ceremonial but filled with the presence of God.
