But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law (Gal. 5:18 KJV)

Led of the Spirit is a characteristic of mature sons of God

The secret to a higher life in Christ, above the laws of this fallen broken world, is to live in the Spirit. There are many synonym words that could be used to describe this glorious state of living that the Lord wants us to be in, such as “walking in the Spirit” or as in our verse above “led of the Spirit”.

When we are led of the Spirit, we simply follow the directions or promptings of the Holy Spirit. Man is a being that is led. We are led in our daily lives. The decisions we make, from the micro-decisions we make with our thoughts and feelings every minute to the big ones in our businesses, something is leading or making us do the things we do.  For example, you may say something based on what you feel. Your feelings “led” you to behave in a particular way. We are led. The question is what is leading us. What makes you do and say the things you do and say?

As a believer, there are two major leaders that are competing for the control of your life. They are the flesh and the Holy Spirit. When we heed the directions  of the Spirit, we are being led by Him. All that is needed to be led by the Spirit is the ability to discern His leadings and the surrender of our will to follow His. Be led of the Spirit every single day.

MEDITATE

What does the scripture call the believer who is led by the flesh? ( 1 Cor. 3:1). Declare that “I am a child of God, I know the voice of the Spirit and I follow His leadings in my life every day”.

APPLY THE WORD

What or who leads you? If it is anything else other than the Spirit, you will need to ask the Lord to help you. The leadership of the Spirit begins with following the obvious written Word of God.

PRAY

Ask the Father to help you yield to follow His Spirit in your life at all times.
