Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:13, KJV)

born of God showing an arabic family

God has fathered us in Christ! WE are born of God, created in His nature.

You were conceived through the agency of your father and your mother. Humanly speaking, you came into being, that is, born, through your parents. In general terms, the word “born of” means to bring forth new human life. God has given humans the authority to bring forth new human life. This is the meaning of the phrase “born…of the will of the flesh”. The flesh here means “human”, that is, the natural human means of having children.

However, it proceeds further to say the new creation in Christ was not born of the flesh but of God. The Greek word for “born of” has a specific meaning in this verse. It means “to be fathered”, or to bring new life through the male agency. It is not born of a mother but born of a father. How does the father beget a child? Through the seed, that is, through his sperms.

Peter says:

“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” (1 Peter 1:23, KJV)

The Word of God, as God’s seed, was sent forth and brought forth a new human life, that is, you! The new creation was not a new human being born by his father and mother. It is a new human being, born by the seed of God, and different from the prior class of human beings because the new one is now a child of God! Your shoulders should be high! You are born of God and indestructible. By virtue of your very nature in Christ, you will crush every challenge that comes your way! ( 1 John 5:4).

MEDITATE

What does it mean to be born of God? What is common between a father and a child? Can lions beget chickens?

APPLY THE WORD

Let this truth sink into your heart. Know and believe it. You are born of God, and your faith is the victory that will crush that challenge in your spiritual life, family, health, etc.!

PRAY

Can you just call Him “Abba, Father” right now and bless Him for the favor to be His children.

Keep growing
