Jesus: The Man and His Mission

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21, KJV)

Jesus is the Son of God and Son of Man who came to save sinners and bring people to inherit God’s glory.

Summarizing the life and purpose of Jesus is a daunting task, as the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, revolves around Him. As believers, we need to deepen our understanding of the Lord daily.

The Bible uses many titles to describe Jesus, with two of them encapsulating His identity: Son of Man and Son of God. The title “Son of God” emphasizes His deity, while “Son of Man” highlights His humanity. He was God and Man as one—fully God and fully man.

Jesus is the Jehovah of the Old Testament who became a human being to save humanity. This statement is “a scandal and an offensive stumbling block” to the Jews and “absurd and utterly unphilosophical nonsense” to the world (1 Corinthians 1:23, AMP).

What led Jesus from the throne in heaven to earth? His mission is captured in a simple phrase: to save people from sin and bring God’s children into His glory. Let’s examine the two aspects of His mission. Firstly, He saves people from sin and all that comes with it, including hell, sorrows, and Satanic dominion. He pulls us out of a total mess.

But that’s not all. In fact, that’s not even the most exciting part—saving us from something. After rescuing us from something, He brought us into something far greater and more amazing than what Adam enjoyed. He made us children of God, partakers of God’s nature, and heirs of God’s glory.

In conclusion, here is a snapshot of Jesus: God in the flesh, saving people from sin and leading them to inherit God’s glory.
