Why did Jesus have to be born as a Man?

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same (Heb. 2:14 KJV).

Jesus had to be born as a human being if He had to be the Saviour of Humanity

Why Christmas in the first place? Why did Jesus have to be born as a Man to save us from sin, death, and the devil? The scriptures give us a few reasons why Jesus had come as a Man to save us, rather than as God or an angel.

Heb. 2:14 above clearly articulates the most important reason. Those who needed salvation were human, with flesh and blood. God ordained that their blood was the means through which they atoned for their sins (Lev. 17:11), so the only way to make atonement for sin was through sacrifice of human life.

There was no amount of animal sacrifice that could take away sin, because undefiled human blood was the only remedy. The Apostle Paul quoted an Old Testament verse referring to Jesus, when he said “Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me“ (Heb. 10:5 KJV). God did not want sacrifice, He wanted a human body with blood for a sacrifice.

Christ came to meet us, where we were, as human beings. He is our Savior indeed— God our Savior, the Man Jesus Christ!

MEDITATE

Why did Jesus not come to save us as an angel? See Heb. 2:16. Do you think Jesus was also fully human, able to feel, eat, and grow up as we all do? See Heb 2:17-18.

APPLY THE WORD

Since Jesus was born as a Man, then you can be certain that He understands what you are going through. Go ahead and tell your Savior how you feel.

PRAY

Ask the Lord to help you grow in confidence in your Savior, so you will have the assurance that He knows, and understands what you are going through.
