Look for a Reason to be Grateful

AuthorPatrick Oben
Published

“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph. 5:20 KJV).

Thanksgiving is both an offering to God and precious ointment on our own lives. An ingrate is someone who feels entitled without feeling the need to be thankful to anyone for anything. An ungrateful spirit will rob us of our miracles.

The scripture above commands us to be thankful to God in all things. The Lord wants us to maintain a thankful spirit in every circumstance. He did not say “for everything,” but “in everything.” Not everything that comes our way is from God, but God carefully monitors and supervises everything to ensure that we have victory at all times. Always look for a reason to be thankful in all circumstances. Train yourself to be thankful and not complain, murmur, or grumble when things do not seem to be going well.

MEDITATE

Ponder the verse above. Can you see yourself following God’s instructions? Take a moment to say those words with your mouth, again and again.

PRAY

Ask the Spirit to help you develop a thankful demeanor and to open your eyes to the reasons to be thankful in every situation.

ACT ON THE WORD!

It is your turn to act on the Word. The Word you respond to is the Word that works for you. Please do not simply read the Word, enjoy it, and keep it in your heart- and then wonder why your life does not turn as God has promised. Is there something you do not like in your life today? Look for a reason to be thankful for your situation and focus on that. When you do this, you will set yourself up for miracles!
