The Impact of Hearing from God About an Issue

And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again(Exodus 14:13, ESV)

Hearing from God puts our fears to rest

“Something”  happens inside of us when we hear from God and know what He is saying about an issue before or while we are in the midst of the crisis.  Indeed, as the Lord Himself said it, man lives by the Word of God! This is illustrated by the story of Israel coming out of Egypt.

When   Pharoah was told that the Israelites had left Egypt, he mustered the army of Egypt and marched after them.  When this mighty  army  approached Israel in the desert, the reaction of the people was completely different from that of Moses, as noted in  the verse below: 

“When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the LORD” (Exodus 14:10, ESV)

However, Moses’ response is seen in Exo. 14:13 above. He rather told the people not to be afraid but see for themselves how God will save them! Why this diametrically opposite reaction to the same fearful situation? One possible answer is that “Moses was a Man of God, and possibly had more faith.” However, that is only part of the equation. The bigger reason is that a few verses back   (Exo. 14:1-4),  God had already told Moses that Pharoah would be coming to attack them, and He will crush Pharoah’s army. Moses had heard from God!  Hearing what God is saying about the specific issue you are facing NOW will put you in charge and drive away fear.

APPLY THE WORD

The best place to begin hearing from  God is to develop the attitude of wanting to hear what God is saying and simply asking  Him. I know that sounds so simple but start from there and you will see results. Your Christian life is a walk of faith!
